Bone Density Measurement (BDM)
Bone density measurement (BDM) is performed using the DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) method. This is a very brief test with an extremely low radiation dose, which focuses on a specific area to calculate bone density, in order to determine whether the individual is healthy or suffers from osteopenia or osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is asymptomatic and can lead to bone thinning and fractures.
BONE DENSITY MEASUREMENT (BDM) – AEGEAN Medical, 25th Martiou Str.
The diagnostic centre is equipped with the state-of-the-art Lunar Prodigy Primo bone density measurement system from GENERAL ELECTRIC.
Bone density measurement is performed using the dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) method, with a single scan, at the lowest possible radiation dose, in the shortest possible time, thereby reducing the duration of the examination.
Additionally, body fat measurement and full-body mapping are performed using the DEXA method. The DEXA method is the top choice for body fat measurement compared to other methods, as it accurately measures fat tissue, muscle tissue, and body fluids by body region.
BONE DENSITY SCAN (BDS) – AEGEAN Medical Ampelokipoi
Horizon is one of HOLOGIC’s most advanced machines. It is a state-of-the-art device that enables bone density measurement using the dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) method, as well as body fat measurement. The examination is performed with the lowest possible radiation dose, in minimal time, and with just a single scan, while accurately providing both the results of bone density measurement and body composition analysis, which includes measurements of fluid, fat and muscle tissue.
